We don't have a school in Gurat, so our commune's children go to school in the neighboring commune of Villebois-Lavalette that has a preschool, a primary school and a secondary school. The students benefit from school transport at all ages.

The preschool welcomes students from 5 communes : Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard, Edon, Gardes-le-Pontaroux, Gurat, Magnac-Lavalette-Villars, Vaux-Lavalette et Villebois-Lavalette.

For the school year of 2015-2016, the school has 54 students split into 2 classes.

Mme JAMBON_LEVASSEUR Noémie looks after the middle and big section and has 26 students.

The canteen : The preschool canteen welcomes the primary school children as well. The meals are prepared by Mmes BOUCHON and POUVREAU. The meals are traditional and good quality.

School transport for the preschool and primary school is organised by SIVOS. They deal with collecting children from 4 communes (Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard, Edon, Gurat, Vaux-Lavalette).

The association for students parents of the primary and preschool of Villebois-Lavalette organises the collection of money used for school cooperatives that is used for new material and organisation of festivities, shows and outings.

Childhood and youth in the community of … and Lavalette

1 ) Young children

“Les p'tits loups”, directed by Laurence FAUCONNET in the association of communes of Villebois-Lavalette is made up of :

A crèche that accepts children from 3 months to 4 years on mondays and fridays from 9h15 to 16h.
A relay of child minders that accepts : child minders on tuesdays and thursdays from 9 to 12, tuesdays from 14h to 15H30, - parents and professionals on appointment : monday from 16h30 to 17h30; tuesday from 14h to 15h30 and 17h30 to 19h and thursday from 14h to 17h.
A welcoming center for parents and children (up to 6 years old), on wednesdays from 10h tp 12h.

2 ) Activity Center

Holidays and the summer :

The center is directed by Mme BAUBEAU Corinne, for children from 3 to 12 years and is open during the february, easter and november holidays as well as the summer holidays.

Children are welcomed form monday to friday from 7h30 to 18h by a team of trained animators in school buildings.

Wednesday :

The activities for the departmental direction of youth and sport is directed by Mme DUPE Coralie and welcomes children from 3 to 12 years on wednesdays from 8h to 18h at : La Plaine de Loisirs, Magnac-Lavalette.

3 ) Older children

A center of activities for children from 12 to 14 years, directed by Mme DUPE Coralie, is open in the February holidays, easter and november holidays as well as the summer in the building of La Plaine de loisirs de Magnac-Lavalette.

The trips are organised around the children's ideas and the projects created with them.
